Lakland Skyline 55-AJ....Pros and Cons?

I'm in the market for a 5 string jazz bass with defeatable preamp. Is the Lakland AJ series a good choice? I love the finish, battery compartment, and string through body! I may switch out the pups and preamp eventually, but does the bass itself play well? Should I just save up an extra grand to get a Valenti? Thanks for your opinions!

I have an active US 5560 and love it!

Lakland's have such a great feeling neck....excellent quality and great customer service...these are very comfortable basses to play...I have a skyline 5560 fretless.

I assume you are talking a skyline? If so...I might think about changing out the preamp for an lh3....leave the pickups....
