I have owned both and prefer Lakland necks - they are just more comfortable to me. But I also loved the pre in the NYC Sadowsky I owned so I put a Sadowsky pre in my US Lakland 4-63 - best of both worlds, IMHO of course

Lakland vs Sadowsky

Four year old thread. Seems to me most of the wisdom on the first page of postings still describes the situation.
I've never played either brand of these basses and have no axe to grind. However, if I was interested in a better than Fender bass, I'd buy a Sadowsky in a millisecond.
There is a well known band here in Nashville called the Nashville Jazz Orchestra. They have various rosters of musicians who play based on who's available. Anyway - one of their bassists plays a Sadowsky, and when he does, the band sounds its best.
I heard someone else playing one of Roger's basses at NAMM and it sounded superb. You should buy a Sadowsky because of its sound and flexibility
