I am loving it! My band has no backline amps and this sounds phenomenal through my SansAmp DI. I do almost no tweaking at the preamp because the balance and tone is so good. It plays like a dream, very fast and comfortable neck. I was surprised at how little time it took to adjust from my P-bass. I think it is the Holy Bass Grail.

Good Lord never have I seen anything like this.....this....Volkswagon Thing of a bass guitar.

I used to work with a guy who helped build/designed these. IIRC the idea was to get rid of traditional "fret" problems like height and dings. The theory was this would never require any fretwork. I also believe it was designed in collaboration with some prog-rock bassist that I'm sure is famous among bass players who listen to 80's prog-rock.

Oh, and note the headstock. This could actually be hung in normal guitar stands, as opposed to Steinbergers. It's bizarre, but it's well thought-out.

Wow flashback for me. I had the distinction of Iinvesting in his company early on and spending countless hours in the shop talking guitars and what not. Lane was sort of a crazy genius maybe a lil too over drivenI some respects. Alas before the last pups came out I basically lost my Iinvestment and things went a lil south. At onepoint he built one for me Iin pearl white with just a lined fretless neck. Alas the bass was dropped.accidentally down a flight of stairs by either the bassist from Big Audio Dynamite or Flea I don't remember exactly. Thus I never did get my bass. Lots of fun days watching the ins an outs of these basses and their production from a mad genious. Lanes wife was my first bass teacher thus how we met. We have since reconnected and chat time from time. Many people round here are still very upset in having lost their investments so he keeps a low profile. I've since gotten past that but wish I had at least gotten a few of his later pickups out of it. Not to be and he doesn'thave anymore I actually asked. A very Iimportant part of my past music history when I was a kid and a fun place to hang and share stories. Thanks for posting this I remember this bass .

I played one back in the day when I saw one at a show and after asking the bassist about it, he offered to let my try it. It was awesome. Sounded and felt the boobies! Unusual for sure but that was before all the Fender Nazis we have today. Bassists were more open to weird and different things
