Alright so ever since I've learned that Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers ahd Lane Poor pickups on like all of his modulus basses, i've been looking for one cause i really dig the tone. the Growly lows and the snappy highs. But i've been looking and looking and its like impossible to find one since I've heard that Lanepoor stopped his business or something. So, I would like to know which pick up fits into which bass and approximately how much it would cost. Sorry I started playing bass like a year and a half ago, and yeah still kinda nubby. Haha

It may seem harsh for me to say, but if you've only been playing a year and a half, don't waste your time and money pursuing different hardware to get tone. Make sure your bass is properly set up and then learn how to really play it. A good portion of your tone should come from your hands. If Flea picked up your bass and played it you would probably love the tone. It's all in the hands.

Hi Mike, +1 to everything Ralf said! Also, remember that Flea has played many different basses through his career (Modulus, Music Man, Fender, etc.) and pretty much always sounds good.
If you really want to get close to his "signature" sound, I would recommend anything with a Music Man-style pickup. Most of that pickup's sound comes from its design and its location under the strings. The Lane Poor version is really just a slight variation on the MM design. But you could also play Chili Peppers songs on a Jazz bass, or an Ibanez, or an SX, or whatever

ps I do have a Lane Poor pickup on one of my basses, so I speak from experience. I absolutely love it, but I would say it is about a 10% improvement, at most, over other brands. In other words, it didn't suddenly make me sound twice as good overnight
