Large cab solution in Australia?

Hey everyone, I'm trying to put a list together of all the possible large cab (eg 810, 610, 215, 412) options that are available in Australia. I was hoping to pay less than $2000 but if i have to i will spend anything to get the cab I need.

ATM I am playing a Squier Jazz V and will be picking up a P soon too, through an Ashton 300watt tube amp. Our band is working our way towards a Dillinger/Converge sound so I am drop C on the 4 string and Low G on the 5. I need a cabinet that is low, fast and articulate, don't mind if it is massive or heavy I have a giant for a vocalist.

Currently the cabinet I'm leaning towards is a Berg 215, but haven't really heard it or any other large cabs.

From what I can tell, it's possible to get pretty much any cab here in Australia that is also available overseas, you just need to checkout the IP-address sensitive ads here on TB ... assuming you want to buy new. There is also a good selection available on ebay - there's a Mesa 6x10 on there at the moment (second-hand).

I'm not sure it's actually possible to get a cab that is REALLY 'low, fast and articulate'. It might be that all cabs would only be cabable of reproducing the second harmonic of the really notes, perhaps that's what is really wanted for clarity anyway?

Hey man,
you should check out the schroeder 412. this is the loudest cab that i have heard and it is less than 2/3 the size of an ampeg fridge. An awesome cab that will have the guitards asking you to turn down instead of the opposite.

Other options include but not limited to aguilar db810, Aggie Gs412, Schroeder 210212, Epifani 610, Eden do an 810...

There is alot of great sounding big cabs out there man good luck

Well the 215 has a mid driver so it can go higher than the 610.

But honestly, no cab is going to accurately reproduce a low G. Those frequencies are just too low. I'm not a cab expert, but you'd need something huge to reproduce that accurately. I'd go for something that would be good and punchy for a majority of your notes. I'm sure it will play the low G, but it's going to be muddy as all get out. And it will be with any cab besides a PA rig probably.

Well A# is the lowest I go truthfully and rarely at that, most songs can be played in just drop C. I don't slap at all but do a little tapping so would the mid driver of the 215 make much of a difference or will the 610 have enough highs? little treble boost on amp and bass?

Sorry for the string of questions, can't try the bergs and $1800 plus shipping is alot :D

Sorry, this is where my limited experience with the Berg NV series runs out. I'm sure there are plenty of folks on here who own them who will be glad to help you out. :)
