Last ever order from ebay

I posted this morning that fedex wants me to stay home all day, or go to the airport.
It gets worse-
Fedex just sent me an email. Your package has been delivered, and signed for, thank you for using Fedex.
It was signed for by a guy in Kentucky.
I live in Ontario, Canada.
I called ebay, and they said this one is going to be difficult, because it was signed for, so Fedex is done with me.
Every single thing I have ever ordered from ebay has turned into a complete fiasco, most of it never gets here, or takes two months.

By any chance did the seller use the EBay Global Shipping Service? The shipment would go to Erlanger, Kentucky before being forwarded to Canada. I’ve sold stuff to non-US buyers using EBay Global Shipping. It can be confusing to the buyer because the item goes to Kentucky under one tracking number, then goes to its real destination under another tracking number.

Yes, this one has been solved, this is the case, and Fedex sent me the delivery notice ( abit of a head scratcher).
That doesn't explain two other orders I'm waiting on from Dec. that were supposed to be here for Xmas, but they are just small stuff.
It's easier to not deal with ebay when you live in Canada.
Why would Fedex send ME a notice to stay home all day, and an address to pick up in Toronto if I miss it?

Now that shipping costs are so inflated, that’s probably true, but 10 years ago, I bought a full sound system piece-by-piece on eBay from the US, and here is what I learned: never use UPS or FedEx, since they charge additional brokerage fees. Instead, insist the seller use the US Postal Service expedited parcel method. You get insurance and a tracking number, signature is required on delivery, and there is a handoff at the border to Canada Post. And never a brokerage fee (which can amount to more than the cost of a small item, and can be hundreds for a large item).

Stuff from Amazon Canada arrives the next day. I've had stuff from China, and elsewhere via Amazon, and it arrives in a week or so.
Some of it has nothing to do with ebay. Canada has made it as difficult as possible to do business with. I have friends in all kinds of businesses, and they say Canada is the worst to export to.
My history with ebay so far-
FedEx delivered a bass in the dead of winter in a plastic bag, with the shipping label torn off a box, and taped to the bag.
Thumb rest ordered last Nov. never got here. Ebay says delivered, and 'Will look into it.'
Parts ordered Dec. 20 are missing in transit.
Parts ordered Feb. 19, are just running late. Too early to initiate action.
Told to stay home today, or pick up package at Toronto Airport. Package is in Kentucky, as it should be, but I'm glad I didn't drive to the airport.

I feel similar with Guitar Center, Musician's Friend, & Music123.com, because they no longer allow me to set my packages to will call pickup.
It's not as bad as someone else signing for your package in another country, but...
when I was allowing the packages to be delivered to me the final step often got screwed up, even so far as leaving the package on someone else's doorstep in the rain w/o a signature (and it was signature required).

I'm ten minutes from the Erlanger KY hub. The last time I got something sent to my house via UPS (even though I stressed that I wanted it USPS) it went from Erlanger to Columbus, then Cincinnati, then here via Erlanger :?

I'm 5 minutes from the Cincinnati hub.

So, @Paulabass you want I should go make dem an offer dey can' refuzze?

As a US seller, if you use the ebay Global Shipping Service, you don’t do anything different or special. You ship to a normal US address. Ebay takes it from there and takes care of customs forms etc and sends the item on its way. Costs are spelled out to the buyer during checkout so no surprises for the seller or buyer. It works.

it might work but damn it's expensive!

I'm moving to Canada this fall. It sounds like I should buy anything music-related that I need before I move, right?

Never had that extreme of an issue but what I have noticed that the last few times I had bought something and the seller used FedEx to ship it has taken a lot longer to get packages. I get weather than impact however looking at tracking information, one package I was expecting departed from Florida and then went to Missouri and then all the way out to California, then to Kansas then to my home city in Nebraska and sat for a full day here then delivered the next day. The trip out to California and back took an extra two days when I wondered why the heck it was not just brought up when it was in Missouri which is a closer state...

But I also used USPS one time to send a birthday card to a friend a city 45 minutes away from me and it took five days and arrived the day after their Birthday...would love to have my stamp and time back on that one. Oh and it was during Summer so weather was no influence.

While i’m selling on ebay, i’m about to give up on buying there. I’ve just about converted to buying everything but groceries online and was getting a good portion from ebay, but in the last year, more and more sellers are excluding PO Boxes and we don’t get mail at our street address so i’ve just about quit looking at ebay when i’m shopping these days.
