Hi folks

So how about we try something here...

I have some gifts to knock down still. Obviously it's a bit late for a lot of on-line dependent avenues like eBay or even really anything that needs shipped.

Could we hook each other up with "walk-in" or "cash and carry" suggestions?

My thoughts:
•Post your query
•offer some details about recipient
•offer a budget range

Replies quote the query and then reply with suggestion, link, etc.

NOTE THIS IS ABOUT LAST MINUTE STUFF... WALMART, TARGET, etc that we procrastinators can just go get.

TIA

I'll start...

I have about 4 co-workers/ subordinates that I'm really struggling for. I don't want to do the same for each. I'll go even up to like $20/$30 but candy or food stuff... even gift cards isn't what I'm after.

"Gag" stuff is in range, but it kinda needs to be personal to come off successfully.

They're Gen Z, food runners/ bussers.. all guys.

I'm stuck and have no clue.

I'm sooo preoccupied with my staff I dropped the ball on the most important gift I need. I am evidently a horrible person.

So, huge fan of Tim Burton. From FT. Meyers FL. She's all like "no big deal" re: gifts... (yeah, right)

Absolutely a 420 lady, but has all the accouterments there.

She's 26 (yeah, that's right I'm 53. I got it like dat)

Concert tickets? Or game tix if they're some kind of sporty folk. Or something that drives an experience.

If they're into shoes, a few small gift cards from a few shoe stores so it forces them to go shopping, for example.

Or booze. (Let's Go Booze)

Or cruise some local gift shops and tell the clerk a few things about your friend.

Also, speaking of hooch, really high end mixers are something a lot of people would like but would not buy for themselves. Nice bitters or tonics something that makes a classy drink.

I dunno, I like booze.

I had a piece of fulgurite wrapped into a sliver pendant for a gift when my daughter was in high school. It's honestly not that pretty, fulgurite is irregular and imperfect. But I wrapped it in a note about how certain people hit the world around them like a lightning strike and leave it permanently changed.
And I saw a picture of her giving a slide presentation at a psychology conference in Boston and she was wearing it with her nice dress. SO it landed.

I flew my wife's best friend to Austin, got her to my house to surprise my wife and tell her she had 90 minutes to pack for a 3 day trip to NYC, flew them both to the city, nice hotel, dinner, shopping...

Just think about what they're about and put a little thought into it.

Please allow me to offer a piece of advice about what type of gift to avoid getting someone.

If the intended recipient has a hobby or pastime that they're really passionate about and already has a lot of money and material invested in it, it's risky to buy them a gift for that hobby, unless you're absolutely sure that it's exactly what they want.

For example, suppose they're a musician who plays acoustic guitar. You go to the music store and buy an expensive multipack set of guitar strings and a handful of cool accessories.

Chances are, they won't be the strings they want, and they will have no use for the accessories, or if they do want them, they already have them and you've just given them unnecessary duplicates.

Just trying to help.

I recommend coffee table books.

Every year, in the later shopping days of Christmas, the big book stores have clearance sales on coffee table books. These are the great, big hardcover tomes, filled with gorgeous pictures.

Yes, you'll have to walk into a brick and morter store and physically browse through their selection like a caveman, but it's the least you can do for your loved ones.

I'm getting my sister an Advent calendar that's a bunch of mini books, each one a spoof of something, saving it for next year though.
