LDS 8x8 Driver recomendations:

I concur and thanks for the advice. Yeah I'll go with maker's suggestion it seems the most prudent.

This is definitely true, and especially so with a small cabinet, or a slot ported cab. This 8x8 has 4 big port tubes, which does give some leeway for tuning. A port (or two) could be plugged, or the port tubes could be shortened/legthened to change the tuning. It still may not be ideal, but it could make enough difference to be beneficial.

Actually, when Ralph was submitting the desired speaker specs to Don / LDS, all he wrote was "round and black". The rest was sheer luck.

Glad to hear the finished enclosure is working out well! The "big sister" says hi.

Hard to tell from the camera flash and grill grates but, the top two drivers in the angled section appear to have an inch smaller dustcaps and are possibly one size bigger....10's?. Maybe just the photo shot and the baffle angle at play there but they look different to me. That's not necessarily a bad thing....especially if they're highpassed guitar drivers.:bassist:

I think you're correct...those are wired up as midrange drivers. Couldn't tell you how but it works so who cares? The lower 6 are some type of long-throw driver. All I care is that the sucker has tilt-back casters. Yeaaah!

The big sista will always be missed! Little sister fits perfectly in the trunk of the car that got stopped! Lol ( private joke! ).

Yeah casters do come in handy! Oh Btw if you saw the 6x8 that LDS is making you

The mid-range drivers point upwards a few degrees although I'm not sure what impact this has on the cab's tone as a whole. The HF driver is a little too brittle for my ears; I may tackle a mod or upgrade in the future. Any suggestions?

BTW, here's the gag on this particular cab: Ralph and I were able to pull off no-charge transport from Queens to Virginia Beach through a series of hand-offs and choreography that rivals that of Mexican drug cartels. All went flawlessly, until...Ralph got popped by the cops in metro New Jersey. PIA but I understand there were no fines or points as the cop "failed to show". I remain indebted!

lOL fUNNY!!! I wasn't able to laugh at the time as I couldn't believe that the NJ cop asked over and over if I was a musician!!! Talk about profiling!!!! But looking back I find it funny. As for some of the threats and questions the officer had asked me just weren't SOP but more a prejudice from where my plates and residence where from. Good thing is if avoidable I'll never go thru that particular area of NJ again. But Zoob folks that I dealt with are by no means a reflection of what they're Police dept thinks and behaves.

Now we both have 8x8 cabs that were happy with! Whew!
