Learning bass in Canada

Hi from the Montreal area,
I am new to bass (few months now) but I have played drums on and off since 1970 and guitar for the last 5 years. I just bought my second bass, the Vintera Mustang in Seafoam green seen here. Also pictured are my first bass, a Yamaha TRBX304 (acquired earlier this year) and a 6 string, Epiphone Casino Coupe.
So now I have a long scale active Yamaha and a short scale passive Fender to play with - to see what I prefer in the long run. I am mostly learning on my own with various internet resources but my guitar teacher does teach bass as well if I have any issues.

I think the metric system would be my biggest impediment to learning bass in Canada.

@WillyW Good point Willy, I have no idea what the scale length of my bass is in meters! but since I am over 60 I still think of my height in feet+inches too. Kilometres are great on the highway though...

@bass12 My current guitar teacher is Simon Roberge of Longueil. I also work with Scott Cook, founder of Montreal Jams but so far I am always the drummer there - but they are always short of bassists so maybe that could an opportunity...
