Yeah, t'was, Acoustic Ladyland were absolutely awesome every night. I'm utterly convinced now, those guys really are doing something really damned fresh. Really great stuff IMO.
Have you heard Polar Bear yet? They were at the Mercury awards this week, three members of AL, Pete Wareham on Sax, Seb Rochford, drums, who composes all the material for PB and Tom Herbett on bass, plus two others, names escape me. It's way, way out there! Great stuff!
So, tour was good, but was hard work tho, being away from home + family for second week running, I'm not used to it.
Also, by some bizarre coincedance, Paula Gardiner (from Glam Jazz) was playing in a band opening at Cardiff on whatever day it was.. The Pete Stableton Quintet.. I was chatting to her before the gig.. brilliant modern (to my ears at least) jazz band, all very composed material comprising some truly mind boggling charts, I checked a few out. Paula sight read the entire gig
Their drummer was literlaly the most awesome player I'd seen in ages, he had a real modern fusion style, reminded of the drumming on Christian McBride's Vertical Vision. That, followed by Seb's drummnig *falls over backwards*. It was inspirational stuff all week to say the least!
Got lots on at the moment, will be going back to Richmond for a full year on upright and electric. I'll apologise now for next years dreadful upright playing on my part

Actually, agreed, the Richmond course was/is a great source for learning theory, taking tunes apart and analysing them, all good.
