Double Bass Leather tie-around bass bibs, a la Ron Carter.

Hello!

Does anyone know of anyone who makes those old leather bass bibs with the straps around the neck joint and the C bouts? I know these are rare. I currently use the David Gage fabric bib, but it's showing signs of wear. I'm looking for something slightly more substantial.

You want a Strata Jazz Bib. They are out of production but turn up from time to time. I sold one earlier this year.

The Strata is a simple design using a rectangular piece of leather folded over on three sides for a leather drawstring. One short end goes over the corners on the C bout and the other is at the top with the drawstring going around the heel and it ties around a button attached to the back corner of the bib. It would be easy for a shoe repair shop to make. The thing I didn't like about it was it seemed to dampen the bass a bit.
