LED's

timmy tucker said:
i would love switchable LEDs for the sidemarkers on my basses. it's unnerving to be playing fretless onstage when all of a sudden youre in total shadow :o

I have two Alembics that have side marker LEDs. Most of the time I'm the only one that can see them. As you pointed out, comes in handy when the stage gets dark.

Peace,

James

I think that they're awesome for certain things, though I'm not really a fan of them on the face of the fretboard; I love them on the sides.

I'd like to see someone here in the states learn to do them so we don't have to pay for shipping to SIMs.

Jesse Blue of Ergo instruments(in the USA)was licensed by Martin Sims a few years ago to install the Sims method.Martin stayed at Jesse's house for a few days instructing him on how to properly install them and he's the only luthier in the USA licensed by Sims.

That has to be what Darth Vader's bass would look like if he played!

I have side LED's on my Status and Alembic and I love them. Makes playing on a dark stage alot easier. I've never been a fan of LED's on the fretboard because I just rarely ever look at my fretboard when playing so I'd never use them.

Right now I'm having a Quake bass made by Knuckle Guitarwords and I'm having fiberoptics mounted in the neck. The lightsource that they are attached to will allow me to change the color of them as I wish.
