Legal highs

http://webecoist.momtastic.com/2008/09/16/16-most-unassuming-yet-lethal-killer-plants/

nothing dangerous in nature ever.

so we can include wrecking while driving while drunk in alcohol deaths but can't include wrecking while high in weed deaths. got it. any more hypocrisy or are we done here?

What hypocrisy are you talking about? You are assuming things that have not been discussed here.

You can introduce driving while impaired into the thread, but we are assuming here that no one is doing that. The decision to get high and the effects of that drug is a different topic that using that drug while driving.

:hmm:

Well clearly the government would rather have a bunch of kids smoking crazy chemicals that mess up your brain instead of a plant that grows in the ground. Makes sense to me.

Using "it grows in the ground" as a reason for being better for you than ingesting research chemicals is not terribly convincing. There are a lot of things that grow in the ground that can harm you worse than research chemicals. This isn't in defense of research chemicals, but you need a better argument.

I believe he was referring to weed specifically in his comment. It is well established, that there is little chance of death, if any, for weed smokers.

This is not terribly convincing either. We are not smoking/ingesting other things from the ground we do not know about. We DO know about weed. Please reference something else that grows from the ground, not altered by mankind, that we use/abuse commonly, that is worse than the synthetic chemicals contained in things like Spice(synthetic marijuana).

Thanks tasty, that is exactly what I meant.

Wasn't exactly making an argument. Just sayin'

This synthetic garbage is dangerous.
I recently had to stick a couple of 19yr olds in an ambulance because of it. I almost had to choke one of them out too before help arrived. Got no problem with weed or the people who smoke it but this crap is a much different animal.

Not sure if troll or high...

I'm all for legalization of marijuana, but I do it with blinders off.

I don't see where the market for chemically similar versions of marijuana would be if the real thing were available legally and the testing process was less biased against it. Black markets breed nasty side effects, this is just the newest visible one.

Spinach is legal.
Im confused. :atoz:

This explains why I wasn't able to find any synthetic spinach substitutes that may or may not make you go crazy when I was at the store earlier.

He was probably high. Anyone advocating marijuana legalization is clearly high.

What do you mean by "blinders"

You underestimate the power of humanity to do stupid things. As a sidenote, I know 5 people I can call up right now who can get me a bag of weed. If you think it is hard to get weed...I don't know what to tell you.

People aren't doing synthetics because they can't get weed. That's laughable. They are doing synthetics because weed ain't doing what they want it to do.

Not that the latter part of your post is untrue, but there are a lot of people who do use synthetics because they can't get weed, or as a legal alternative to weed. And yes, there will also be those who do it just looking for something different.

means you can only see in one direction/see things one way

Thanks for clearing that up. I'm not quite sure what I've said in this thread that would give anyone that impression. I've heard both sides of the argument for legalization many times, and I've made up my mind on the subject. I would change my tune if anyone could show me a valid convincing argument for why it should be illegal, but nobody has ever done that.

I clearly stated "I'm all for legalization of marijuana".

I'm not for believing that legalization will suddenly produce an urge of people to not sniff paint cans and roll around in coke.

I never said anything about sniffing paint cans and rolling around in coke. I said that legalizing marijuana would likely decrease the use of these synthetic alternatives to marijuana, which have been shown to be much more dangerous than the real deal.
