Legal sheet music & tabs

I'm sick of trying to find dodgy tabs and am trying to find an online site ideally that has sheet music, lyrics and tabs like with the bass white pages. I'm happy to pay for them but would prefer to be able to buy them per song if possible and was just wondering if there's any large and legit ones out there where I might be able to do some one spot shopping.

There are several pay sites out where decent transcriptions of bass parts can be found and people who will do a transcription for fee. I don't have those links handy, but if you do tab/standard notation searches you will stumble upon several of them.

one guy i noted charges 25 cents a bar.....so a hundred bar song = 25 bux.... which would be a pricey alternative to transcription books......

Try musicnotes.com and sheetmusicdirect.com Sheets range from .99 to $3.99 at sheetmusic.com for tabs to full scores, and up to $7.25 if you want to download the digital as well as printed score from musicnotes.com. You can even transpose before buying. I use them all the time.

What is it exactly you're after? My site www.basslinepublishing.com has a lot of popular bass titles, all legal stuff and top quality transcriptions. There's a fair amount of free stuff knocking about on there too.

Let me know if there's anything specific you're looking for, and I'll see if I can find you some stuff.

I was under the impression that it's technically illegal to transcribe a song without the copyright holders permission. Of course, a lot of people still do it but that doesn't really make it right. Am I wrong in my assumption?

Thanks for all the replies, those sites are more what I'm looking for though for the ones that are $7 a song that's what, four times the price of buying the song itself online? Which maybe I can understand. Just a complete beginner here and I'm finding I'm learning a lot more with the white pages then the lesson books I've got. Maybe by the time I've worked my way through that my ears will have woken up enough that I can start trying to work stuff out for myself :).
