This vintage 77 P bass popped up locally and was described as having basically everything original besides the pickguard and pickups. Was hoping to have some of you experts chime in on its legitimacy and not have to take it apart. Here are the photos I have. I played it and it felt pretty nice. 10.2 lbs.

Looks legit, however I would absolutely not own a 10 pound P bass.

This is a tiny bit lighter, not a bad price either.

Why would any forger with the skill to make an imitation this convincing waste their efforts on faking a late 70’s Fender? The real market is in 50’s and 60’s basses. I wouldn’t think twice about the provenance of this one.

What are they asking? Even if it did have the OG pickups and guard it's a serious boat anchor. I'd be more patient and wait to pounce on an alder body 76 - you'll pay a little more but you should get a significantly lighter version than this baby.

Could have gotten it for 1300... I didn't do it even though I feel like I should have. I'm moving and have a lot of expenses coming up but it was so tempting.
