Legit?

I'm looking to make my own precision bass (by compiling the various parts through ebay).

Do these guys look legit to you, or is it a scam?

Its impossible to tell. I don't see any marking on the body anywhere and I remember somebody saying that Fender doesn't put serial numbers on replacement parts.

The seller looks legit though and its going for a good price right now,

It says it's a 2002 body.
It's a 62 ReIssue.
What's the problem now..?

Yeah, it's a reissue body, no problems there. Did you see their feedback? over 25000 transactions, and 100% feedback! That's really good!

Yeah really, I don't see much of a problem. Even if it's not exactly "legit", it's a pretty good price. Assuming, of course, it's not like plywood.

They've been around forever. My sons friend had ordered a BUNCH of strat stuff from them. He's put together some nice ones from their parts.

It's legit, but if you do the math, you can buy a complete, and together Japan market 62 RI used for less than it would cost to buy all the parts from Stratospher's ebay store, and assemble it your self. Looks to me like he buys complete Japan market Fenders, disasembles them, and then sells off the parts.

Decent guy though. My guitar player bought a SMOKIN' Greco Les Paul from him.

+1 Only a good deal if you are looking for just one piece. These guys have done a lot of business and I've never heard a bad word from anyone who's bought from them. One thing to remember with MIJ bodies is that some are basswood. The one in the auction says it's alder. I believe that's true. Sometimes, Stratosphere posts bodies with no indication about what wood they are - those are the basswood ones. The seller has answered questions candidly and promptly about these - This is not a knock on this seller - Just a suggestion to pay attention to the specs on what you are buying.
