All worthy instruments, no doubt. I also think Bill Lawrence got it profoundly right with the Gibson Ripper.

The man was golden. I have a Jazz, Precision, StingRay, and desire an L2000. So many "boutique" builders spend their entire career refining Leo's designs, because they can't beat his work from the ground up, with something original.
Nope, at least not to musicians. Leo himself said the G&Ls were the best instruments he ever made. Right there in the ads!One thing we can hopefully agree on is that the Name G&L does not carry the weight of the names Fender and Musicman. I pretty much doubt that in twenty years the G&L's are, from a collector's view, as sought after and highly priced as vintage Fenders and Musicmans.
Love my P, do almost all recording with it. Live, my L-2000 is a beast. 2 very different basses. Both are revolutionary.Interesting thread! I love me some P bass, but the L-2000 is the bass for me!
I believe the current offerings of the post-Leo instruments will carry equal weight in the vintage market, when their day comes. Early offerings and Leo-era instruments (like BOO MM's and G&L's) will be sought after and more highly valued. One thing we can hopefully agree on is that the Name G&L does not carry the weight of the names Fender and Musicman. Beautiful instrument! GASI voted for the G&L era, I have an LB100 P bass and a JB Jazz. I have also owned a dozen or so Fenders through the years and these G&L are, to me, finer playing and sounding instruments than any of the others. The LB100 has a Jazz profile neck and is a treat to play. I also ordered both with the Empress bodies so they're both under 8lbs.View attachment 1068705
