Les Claypool new pedals

Can you explain that a bit more? I'm curious now what exactly you're talking about
Ok, take any DI that does speaker level, even an inexpensive one like the Whirlwind Director, get a couple of speaker cables, and put the DI between the speaker out of the amp and the cab’s input jack. This sends the entire signal for the amp into the PA or recording setup.

Well, I would've assumed that most normal DIs can't handle that.
It's basically just splitting the signal up and the speaker receives the same signal as without the DI in-between? Or atleast very similar

Yes, and notice I said the DI has to be able to do speaker level. Not all can. But instead of cutting the signal in half like a normal split signal, there’s no volume loss. Only thing is that the DI doesn’t take the place of a speaker load, so you have to have a cab plugged in.

Makes sense! And the split off signal would probably be pretty hot too, right?

Found a better pic:

Definitely a Cali76. The pedal to the left of it looks like a DI-2112 turned on its side.
I see that Les is back to his dual Subway D-800 + Subway 112's rig for this summer's shows. He's also used the Subway cabs w/ his SVT, I think that's what's going on in this photo..

Les hasn't used the D-800s in a while. He's been using a couple of different power amps (crest mainly I believe) in combination with different preamps. The SVT has been part of the rig since 2019 I believe.
The 112s have been in use the entire time though! And the D-800 is in his home rig now. At least thats what I last saw in 2021, when Geddy visited him!

Hes probably switching the Heads depending on the band. Right now he's been using the Subways for Bastard Jazz, Frog brigade.. I was at Bastard Jazz and Frog Brigade front row. I'm going again VIP to the Frog Brigade at The Wiltern, so maybe I can do some justice and get some good views/pics of his rig lol

I think his tone in his pre Pachyderm bass days was better than now.

just curious why he is still using the Korg AX300B. Is he only using it for the envelope filter? You would think there are better or similar envelope filters on the market now.
I have the AX as well and was curious about the same. The only other effect I can put my finger on that hes used is the Wave Seq. Effect. Which is badass lol

Didn’t he use the AX3000B instead of the AX300B at one point? Do they sound the same?

I used the AX30B many years (20 years or more ago). Then I switched to the AX300B. I can remember that I liked the AX30B better somehow. I sold both pedals many years ago. I think that envelope sound can be recreated with my Spectrum pedal. You can do an envelope plus octave and distortion on that too. That’s basically what the Korg does.

Im not to sure if he did.I have both of them and I like the 3000 cause it has alot of extras. As for the Envel. Filter. I feel like the 300 sounds better but it might just be me wanting to run the exact pedal as Claypool hahaha

Does anyone know what his new midi set-up is? The pedals on the right hand side seem to show something next to the Korg like the Roland PK5 but with only 5 or 6 keys.

Edit: Or it could just be the light and there only be 3 switches on it.
