I know the feeling...want a tip? Do not, I repeat do *NOT* YouTube Alain Caron's "Slam The Clown"...YOUR music ain't that hard. What I TRY to play is.I have been playing bass guitar for 22 years. I have played in a folk rock band, a jam band, a cover band, a punk band and now I am playing in a metal band.
Does anyone else feel kind of modest when discussing being a bass player? I feel like I am good at bass but also like this isn't that big of a deal. I also feel like it is probably the easiest instrument to learn and get decent at. I tend to offer suggestions and discuss things with my band, but I also keep myself in check by reminding myself that I am just the bass player. I guess I have a slight inferiority complex about being a bassist. The other guys in my band think I'm great and it is strictly me doing this to myself btw. Am I the only one who feels this way?
It's bad. When someone compliments my bass playing I smile and say thanks but I think to myself "it only has four strings and we dont play chords but thanks..." Maybe I am being too hard on myself ...
I just said that to that dude bc he was implying that my bass playing must be simple. I dont think i suck or i would be saying i think bass playing is easy. Im not bragging but i dont think i suck. Also you can listen to my bands demo in my sig.Playing bass is easy, playing bass well is not.
I think just simply playing guitar to be much easier.
Op says he shreds at bass in one post then says he won't post his playing because everyone will think he sucks in the next
Worst humble brag ever.
Knowing when not to play, when to keep it simple and when to demonstrate your talent are all equally important parts of being a great bass player. Shredding is not the only test.
Then post somethingI just said that to that dude bc he was implying that my bass playing must be simple. I dont think i suck or i would be saying i think bass playing is easy. Im not bragging but i dont think i suck. Also you can listen to my bands demo in my sig.
I disagree. I know guys who have been playing for years and still have zero groove.
Well you got two kinds of bass players, a nice simplistic one laying down the groove and well you got this guy
You should hear the rest of the album, it's just as amazing, this is the reason why I love metalAAAAGGG - I can't unhear that!!!

Bass is easy until you are forced to record to a click track and have your tracks isolated.Simple stuff isn't always as simple if you're talking about perfect timing, perfect dynamic for every note, and no mistakes or extra noise.
Eeerrrr...I'm not sure SanDiegoHarry's comment was complimentary...You should hear the rest of the album, it's just as amazing, this is the reason why I love metal![]()
