I thought the HH model did a good P-Bass representation. I could see replacing my Jazz AND P Bass with this newest offering from Fender.

Flatter radius than the older American Deluxes pre 2010 era and felt like the current model year American Deluxe.
3 band EQ.
5 position switch.

front pickup both coils
both pickups outside coils
both pickups all coils
both pickups inside coils
rear pickup both coils

The tonal variations seem quite usable, although there isn't one in there that sounds dead on like a 60's J bass.

Position 1 does a good P-Bass vibe.
Position 3 is kinda snotty and honky but could work in the right scenario.

Overall I like this bass.

The neck is just a joy. Love to set one up so I can see what it's potential is.

A couple negatives, the pickup selector switch has a cheap plastic knob that kept popping off. (came off 3 X)
The bridge reminds me of a Badass and I can't imagine why Fender wouldn't use what is on the American Deluxe Line of basses.

My $.02 - resembles a Gibson - resembles a Music Man - I didn't like the looks of it when I first saw a picture of it in a mag - ugly pick guard - and yes, based on these observations alone, I will not even try one out - not interested. I see nothing original about this bass. I know, "don't knock it until you try one out" - but, that doesn't apply because I don't like the looks of it. I have to like the looks of a bass before I'll even pick it up and try it out.

To each their own. I personally love the look and the pickguard rules. Very original in my opinion. Sorry you'll miss out on this one.

I also own an HH stingray - totally different beasts IMHO. Ergonomics wise I prefer the dimension. Sound wise completely different personalities. You can spend lots of time trying to dial them into sounding the same, but apples to oranges IMHO. The band and myself love it. First bass I've owned that my wife commented on how different and sweet it looked.

Well I can tell you on the 5 string the lower horn is cutaway more than the current AMDlxe 21 fret bass. Not sure about the 4 stringer. Otherwise I think the mass of the body is very similar overall. Just different curves and wider body it appears.

It's a very easy bass to play.

The single pickup 5 string I played the other day was well built and finished, sonically pretty versatile and had that modern attention to ergonomics well balanced easy to play kinda feel. Good sounding B string. I can't think of anything really negative to say about it other than it just didn't excite me.

Have the "HH" American Dimension reviews & purchases just stopped "dead" ?.... as stated earlier I have one.... the bad news for my retailer ?.... I'll never need another bass (I have three slabs as it is).... my shopping days are over ! I'm just wondering if this model will be removed from the Fender line.... if so it'll be a shame (and when I kick-the-bucket my wife should be able to flip mine for a pretty profit !) I get nothing but praise about the sound of it.... it's just a great instrument.... good-looking too !

Yeah, I suspect it will be discontinued soon enough. Then everyone will complain that Fender offers nothing but reworked P's and J's. Anyone remember the Stu Hamm bass? How about the Roscoe Beck? Fender has designed some fantastic basses outside the P & J styles. I think Fender does not do enough to really market these fine instruments. They should be running clinics featuring Dimension basses at every GC in America. Otherwise they are going to be forgotten like those other great instruments. I am very happy I own a Dimension HH V and an RBV. Best basses I ever played.

Quick bump...anymore Dimensions join the Talkbass herd?

Noticed a couple online discounts...heading back from China for the summer and may need to spend some time on one of these

+100 to Fender getting grief for only making P and J basses...some real cool offerings..even on lower end with the MP series
