So, anyone suffering from worse-than-usual allergies (to pollen and other windborne stuff) this year? I'm already medicated, and I still feel it. I can't believe some of my students though: they'll come to class with eyes practically swolen shut, and I keep praying it's not the dreaded pinkeye :(

I'm on the other coast (southern NJ) but I've been miserable so far this season as well. Grass is my biggest problem, but mold and dust bother me as well. I've been taking medication round the clock for several weeks but it hasn't helped much. And for some reason my eyes have seemedto get the worst of it, more so than my sinuses.

Can't wait for it to end alreayd.

Yep, Patanol has worked pretty well for me in the past but this year it doesn't seem to be as effective as it used to. Some days my eyes are so crusty when I wake up it almost looks like someone smeared oatmeal on them while I was sleeping.

EDIT - I just realized something. I'd usually opt to stay indoors in air conditioning just to breathe some filtered air. But now that my son's playing higher level sports and has more practices and games I'm spending a lot more time standing around outside. That *has* to be a major contributor to my pain this season. :help:

One good advice during the season is to wash your hair before going to bed and change your pillowsheets once a week, so there's less pain in the morning.

I have quite nasty allergy to birch pollen, but fortunately the worst symptoms last only for two or three weeks, after that my body gets used to it.

I was really bad but it just snowed here--IT'S APRIL FOLKS!!!!! Anyway, I think it might have killed some pollenating plants. I know the geese were looking around baffled!

Allegra is the only thing that used to work for me, but it made me feel weird if I took it too long. I've found some cool alternative things. Sabodilla works if it's not too bad out. I usually use these drops that you put under your tongue. They contain bits of pollen and stuff and they help you to build an immunity. So far that has worked the best.

Still, I walk around with a box of Kleenex this time of year.

I offer my sympathies to all those whom suffer. Myself - I've never had any problems with allergies; ever. Here in East Asia however, we are subject to the clouds of Yellow Sand that blow over from China. I suspect the sand particles bond with airborne industrial pollutants, resulting in a more powerful cumulative effect. For the first time in my life I am experiencing odd and inexplicable symptoms (stiff neck, frequent headaches, deep fatigue, etc.) Anyway, it is some small condolence to know that I'm not suffering alone.

I'm thinking of going back for allergy shots this year. They cured my allergies back in the 80s as a teen and they are working now from my wife who has had chronic allergies most her life.... Her Doc says a refresher every 20 years is a good thing. It's been about 27 years mostly allergy free for me.

Jesus... this is a fun story, unrelated to me...

My friends, Girlfriends family... Her cousin, and his wife are both really allergic to many, many different things... so what happens with two amazingly allergic people make a child ??? It's deathly allergic to everything... and i mean EVERYTHING

He's not allowed to be touched anymore... This is the particular incident that caused it.

It was christmas, the child was sitting in a seat and a woman came up and wanted to hold him (not sure who) the parents asked her to wipe her hands off, they give her a sterile baby wipe... withing two minutes the child breaks out in Hives... What happened ? The woman had peanuts from a peanut bowl like, an hour prior, after holding moist cups, and wiping her hands, still too strong.... lol.

Apparently, he'll grow out of it. So thats good.
