Hey all. I am very interested in seeing what folks are using for 5 string Precision or P based designs. Let's see your Sadowsky, Mike Lull, Fenders, Warmoth builds, Yamaha BBP35's etc.

So show us pics and I would love to hear your opinions on the P5 you play.

How’s about a PJ5? This is my Sadowsky Super PJ that has the prototype Super P pickup in the neck (traditional P, reverse P, both at once) and rehoused Super J in the bridge (60’s J, 70’s J, both at once). It’s pretty much the only bass I play live anymore, at least until my next Sadowsky is finished!

Maybe not the best photo but I just got home and unpacked my gear from a long-distance private event and I’m barely awake right now after cleaning my cowboy boots:

My Mike Lull PJ5. Light, great sound and a very playable neck. . . . . .

Well, two out of three ain't bad:

It's nice to be able to cover classic and modern tones without having to change instruments.

A Lakland 55-64 was the best pure five string P-bass I ever had but it had horrible fretwork before I learned how to use a fret file and I sold. The Ibanez TMB605 I had was a real work horse that I ended up trading for a USA SUB Sterling. The Sterling is a great bass, but I do miss that TMB605.

I guess you can’t have your cake and eat it too.

Just a couple of Sadowsky’s, that’s all I have these days.

Everything about my Hammersmith is a P bass other than the bridge pickup. All passive. Volume and tone.

It instantly became my #1. I play it at pretty much every gig.

Here’s my fairly new Mike Lull P5….

…as modeled by my grand-daughter…

No J involved. That’s what I have a Lull M5V jazz-style bass for.

With a swamp ash body, roasted maple neck, and custom Duncan pickup w/ passive electronics, this is the loudest and gnarliest-sounding P style bass I’ve ever heard. In fact, it’s almost hard to listen to when played solo, but in a mix, it’s totally perfect!

This is another P5 I do not own but I think is very impressive. This Schecter is just a smidge under $1K too.
