I Love it. A Funky Behemoth Hodgepodge. Here's a portion my current FBH collection:

Funky Old Amps.jpg

All are subject to monkeying-with, except the Sunn 200S rig, which is from 1968 and, amazingly and by all indications, remains 100% original, and still sounds wonderful as-is. All of these have a cool backstory, which adds to the fun. Folks I play with get a kick out of seeing what I'll show up with. It's all part of the show.

Here's a pic from a recent "shootout" of my two candidates for leaving at the rehearsal spot for a new side-project band. I actually really do like the sound of that particular (old Italian) CMD102P, but the 400RB with the E120-loaded Bandmaster cab (it's had some internal modifications ) has a tone I like much better in the mids and gets considerably louder. Needs more monkeying though, so the Markbass won the field-assignment for now.

Some of us just have to make do.:)

Just posted this in another thread, so I might as well use it for double duty.
Ashdown 1x12, Seismic 4 x 6 extension cab, TC electronic BQ500 and BAM 200.

I liked the sound of the BAM so much I bought its big brother and sold off my Eden combo, so the BAM is a backup now. I tend to accumulate basses, but not amps. I rarely have more than one or two.

I used to look at these threads and be like “why would anyone have so many amps…especially big old heavy ones. I get having 1 modular rig for big/small and then practice combo but this is ridiculous”

welp…

Ampeg V-4B into an SVT-212AV. SVT-III (non pro) into another 212av. Hartke 3500 into a 4200 pro 4x10.
I guess I became ‘that guy’

My practice rig that I use every week with my 2 guitarplayer friends and our great drummer . Tonight we did some Petty , a Tubes tune and one by Lucinda Williams .
The rig is a PF-800 , a 112 with a Dayton PA310-8 woofer and a PRV horn and driver , a 115 cabinet with a Faital Pro 15PR400 woofer and an Eminence 90 degree APT horn flare with a ASD1001 driver . The two cabinets sound pretty different but together they blend with a very nice low mid punch and very clear and deep . Didn't think they would sound this good together ' very lucky . With the Ampeg I get just the tone I want .

@RollCats...That little amp is a GR-ONE-350, Italian made. Loudest, little 350 watts, I've ever used.
The V4B-ri was a sweet sounding rig. I had a SVT212AV cab also. Sold it all a couple yrs ago and wish I hadn't now.
Ive only played thru the 2 new, MB58R cabs. 1 Energy-neo, 1 102P w/ceramics at home.
Just got the cabs 2 weeks ago. So haven't really cranked it up. And I will use my MB Ninja IV 1000w head w them.
I'm using the two different 210 cabs w/a Blackline NY151 w/GR-350 amp for a couple weeks before I plug the 1000w head into just the two, MB58R cabs.
I love the very lightweight of the new MB58R line cabs.
We'll see how they hold up to giggin w my active/passive 5ers I gig. Peace yal, e.
