Well thats the whole deal Bob; we are in total agreement. I can pull an amp out of the rack in minutes if I need to, and return it just as quickly, reconnect the cabling and be ready to go.

Most people with real bands see this stuff in their PA racks not bass racks, but still... It's the same ballgame. To be able to wheel in your PA hook up the speakers and console without blowing your gear up, powering and going to work.

OK well in the rear in the top is a blower fan sucking air out of the rack. The one on the bottom pushes air in.

The next thing down is the DTR-1000 Korg Tuner. Yes I will need to walk behind the rig to tune. I do not have it in my signal chain, it is off the tuner out in the head, goes live in mute.

Then the radial JD-7 injector which spreads my signal around to the six amps.

The horizontal wires are the speaker wires, they go to the output panels with speakons for each output on the back of the 4PRO's. They are bundled, but they are also clamped to the rack walls that keeps inputs and outputs separately spaced.

There's a Channel A, a Channel B, and in the middle of each a MONO connector. The +1 +2 wiring is done on the connector in each head rear, so the rear panels are all wired +1 -1. This allows the rack to use all the same cables.

Out to the rear panel is also the DI both wet and dry, plus both foot switches.

The vertical bundled cables are each output lead off each channel on the JD-7 headed to their respective Amplifier's PA INPUT.

The power wiring is not visible, but it's there. It's behind that outlet strip on the left all neatly bundled just like the speaker outs. Since there is a lot of AC power going on here the power is spaced away from both the outs and inputs to make sure we don't introduce any hum. The amp is almost perfectly silent.

All the power leads come from their own channel off the Furman Power Distro unit. That thing sequences the power on and off. The terminal strip goes active with the first amp and powers all the fans, JD-7, tuner and anything else we put in there.

I will tell you this guys, when you have this much wire it is IMPERATIVE to bundle it up like this. It is also easier to bundle it up nicely compared to a much simplier rack. My little guy looks no different than any of your racks. We're all in the same boat there.

Seriously that rack is supremely nice Bob!

In one of my old bands we had constructed a box for the PA. It was rather nice.

The Board was up top with two rows of rack gear and then a big shelf to the far right bottom with the snake in it. Speaker and power connections in the back. It was all hard wired. We just rolled it out, took the top and front off, took the snake to the stage, hooked one power cord in, and ran the speaker cables.

Made it nice and easy to setup but it was a bear to move. It was a 4 man deal, you did not move it with less than 4 men. That was the good thing about playing all those Biker Gigs. Lots of help around.

I will be pleased to head to Florida in JANUARY AND FEBRUARY. Especially the last week of FEB so I can head to bike week after I'm done. Will bring a couple scooters.

I think I want to sell this amp now so I can start over and build a bigger one.

I have that picture of KISS on my wall, they all say those cabs are dummies, my amp they will all be real...

Well there DECK, if you have nice cable dress outside of the amp, you have nothing left to trip over and pull apart connectors. Or knock the amps off a chair, top of cab, etc. The power won't get pulled out of the rig and blow breakers everywhere.

I mean geez, where's the fun in that? If the VENUE doesn't at least have ONE FIRE requiring emergency services in the course of an evening, the band didn't do its job properly... :scowl:

I've told the story of winter 1970-1971... Big frat party at the Knight's of Columbus hall.. Some really really hot but drunk sorority chick gets out of control and HUMPS a Shure PA column on stage right right in front of me. She rides the column over backwards off the stage it was an 18" band riser... Pulling the speaker cable tight and pulling two FENDER DUAL SHOWMAN's (PA) off a chair and down to the floor.

She looked just like slim pickens in Dr Strangelove as she went down... Fortunately the amps didnt die.
