Nice rig! How are you liking the GK?

I do like the GK. Has everything I need and it powers the two cabinets very well. But, as of lately, I've been having issues with it that are know with the 700RBs & 1001RBs. It pops when I turn the amp on or off, whether it not I'm plugged and if its on mute. Also, I get a hiss/hum where ever I play. I thought it was isolated to certain venues but its not. Ive had it since 1998, so its not under warrenty. GK offered to repair it but I don't know if I want to put money into fixing it since I have two of them.

I've been shopping around a bit and have narrowed it down to a MarkBass Little Mark II or Epifani PS-600. The GK is 16.5lbs, which isnt much, but the rack is one more thing I need to carry around. With the LMII, its so small and light, I can put it in my music bag and eliminate one more thing to carry. Epifani is, well, Epifani which means its great. It is very light also but will still need to be put in a rack. Also, the Epi is about $250 more than the LMII. The only drawback to the LMII that I'm seeing, thus far, is I dont think it has a mute button. I switch alot between electric and DB. I could always turn the volume down, but this doesnt fix what will be coming out of the DI. So, I can see pissing off a few soundmen in the process of switching.

I dont know.. Its a toss up

hi bobby, i´ve got a lmk (older model) and like it very much, small and sounds good.

for silent switching i use a boss ab2.
it works absolutly silent, is small, light, not expensive. i recommend it.

Thanks for the suggestion. Actually, if I go the LMII route, I'll probably get a Planet Waves Circuit Breaker cable. Its a pretty cool design where the mute button is actually in the cable.

Booby ,
I use thoose cables only since i tried them the first time , they sound great , amazing quality and the circuit breaker is great for DB piezos that tend to get feedback while not playing , and for doubling when changing basses.

Booby?? :) Not the first time I've seen that.

Thanks for the info.. Actually, I went ahead and got a circuit breaker cable and a Little Mark II.. I absolutely love it!!

I'm sure y'all can live without a picture of a Polytone 12" Minibrute and an Underwood.
If you haven't seen my Bohmann go to the Talkbasses version 2 Eye Candy...under the Basses Forum Heading.
One of the strangest and most beautiful basses ever made.

I love your case Marco!!

hahaha , sorry man.
It was to late on the evening :D
Yeah i love your new rig , it looks killer , and probably sound even better.
I find the little mark very nice for upright bass , when using the filters it can get that warm sound i like.

As a Cheese for Durrl's fotos??????????????

Bad habit of mine, kinda like the name thing. fromage=homage, right?

And I like to mangle that quote of Voltaire's, "One man's meat is another man's poison" to "One man's meat is another man's poisson".

I don't know why it amuses me, but it does.

Haven't worked out how to post pics yet, but I'm using a Gage Realist pickup into an Avalon U5- into an Epifani Ul 502 - into an EBS Neo 1x12 . Strings are - G D & A, Thomastic Spirocore Orchestral ( mittel ), bottom E just changed to a Thomastic Superflexible, as the bottom string was just too loud amplified, and it seems to work surprisingly well. It bows better too.
I am off for a ten day tour of China on wednesday, and they are hiring me a rig and bass, as they don't want to pay exess baggage. And the dice of my destiny roll yet again.............................
