Finally pulled the trigger on a spitfire pickguard, and I absolutely love it! Mark is the man and went above and beyond when I was trying to figure out what guard would match my fender am std mohogany stained fsr p bass. He did an amazing job!
Unfortunately these things are like tattoos, I just got it and I'm already thinking about my next one!

I'd love to see some of the other spitfire pickguards out there in talkbass land

Thanks and Yes 2 pieces of swamp ash with the glue joint right down the middle. Not sure if it's the ash or lack of clear coat since its hand rubbed hog stain but it sounds huge and super resonant even though I've just got the am std pups in it. Im still very tempted to try the nordstrand Alnico iii in it.
The joint is more noticeable in the back but Fender did a good job matchin the grain pattern in a cool way

Man, that looks great. Is it a subtle 60s burgundy?

Thanks yeah it's vintage burgundy with a mix between speckled 60s and subtle 60s so less frequent yellow can just poke through. It's got a light to Med relic job which is incredibly natural looking. I didn't want a high gloss pg since the body doesn't have one, that always bothered me on the original pg.
Mark made great suggestions while helping me figure out what would look best, I originally wanted bright red but he suggested the burgundy because it would be more subtle and classy and he nailed it!
He also loaded dark mohagany into his showroom colors on the site so I could compare colors on it, that kind of personalized service blew me away! I can't say enough good things about the service/communication/final product, truly top notch!:thumbsup:

Nailed it, he did. Looks fantastic. I've been waffling on ordering one, I think you just inspired a trigger pull... Mark should give you a kickback :D

Haha I was waffling for a while as well second guessing how much could I spend on a pick guard, but after working through specifically what you want and then all the updates you get from Mark throughout the process as to where your guard is at, i realized its apples and oranges comparing it to just buying a normal pickguard. It's a serious craft with a lot of time put into each guard and nobody else that I'm aware is doing it at this insanely high level, happy to pay the money to insure he's still doing it when I've got cash for another!
And just to be clear I have no affiliation to spitfire other than being a giant fan now:hyper:

Nice, very nice

My buddy gave me a '61 Jazzmaster neck, and when I can get a body made for it, I'm most definitely getting a Spitfire pickguard for it. It would be kind of stupid to spend that much money putting a guitar together, only to go cheap on the pickguard.

Again, very nice.
