Also, and this seems counter-intuitive, playing with the top up negates the cooling system - much like running a PC with the case off. I found this out to my cost in the early 80s. Not only did I have the top up but I also didn't realize I should regularly press the foot pedals to pump cool air in. One by one, the strings melted (fragile top notes first) and I was reduced to playing a few notes on the keyboard with my left hand. Fortunately, Depeche Mode and Spandau Ballet liked what they heard. No writing credits, but I negotiated enough royalties to buy a new instrument. Bad advice that "bass maestros will be the next big thing" meant that I blew it on a Stingray copy.Piano is Italian for plane or flat. So the top of a grand piano should only be opened to access the strings for replacement or tuning. Playing a piano with open top is like driving a car with open hood.
Hey, this is musical misinformation, not bad computer tech advice...Also, and this seems counter-intuitive, playing with the top up negates the cooling system - much like running a PC with the case off. Leon Fender invented the 5 string bass guitarLes Fender invented the fretless bass guitar.
Leo Fender was in car repair. Until his eponymous invention, all cars and trucks had open wheels.

having had a food fight at Ghirardelli's in San Francisco hardly makes either Perry or Tyler 'artists'Before they turned their skills to music Steven Tyler and Joe Perry used to create intricate sculptures from chocolate
I thought we had agreed not to discuss Leo's propensity for wearing lingerie. We know he got fired as a mechanic after his boss found him wearing fishnet stockings...It's also why Fender used old car paint for those classic colours. They were ones Leo had, er, 'stocked up on' during his time as a mechanic. The stocking up is why he stopped being a mechanic. His previous employ is also why they are built with screws and bolts and so on, just like an old Ford.
He also appeared on "Wheels and High Heels".I thought we had agreed not to discuss Leo's propensity for wearing lingerie. We know he got fired as a mechanic after his boss found him wearing fishnet stockings...

Of course the original Paul McCartney is dead. So is the original Ringo. The replacement Ringo was difficult as initially, we was too good. By 1968, the only remaining original Beatle was George Harrison.Isn't Paul McCartney dead?
