I have a question that maybe some of you folks can help me with. My last 3 or 4 gigs I've had the sound guys complain that my bass levels would suddenly jump and get significantly louder at times during a set. Likewise, occasionally my levels would drop down quite low. I am not touching anything on my bass or on my amp so I'm totally confused as to what could be causing this. At first I thought it was maybe just an ignorant sound guy, but I've heard it from more than one sound guy and at more than one venue.
I hear no difference in the on stage volume, but they tell me there are these spikes that they can see in the meters.
I'm taking both my bass and amp head in to be looked at this week, but I'm curious if anybody knows what could be causing this. My hunch is there is a wiring issue in my amp head somehow related to my direct out. Since I'm not noticing any volume difference out of my amp I'm inclined to think it's something in the signal going out to the board. But who knows, maybe it's something with the bass. I changed batteries just to be sure that wasn't it, but it didn't solve the problem.
FWIW, I play a Modulus Q6 through a Euphonic Audio IAmp head. I've been using this set up for about 8 years with no problems until just recently.
Anybody ever experience anything like this?
