Hi,

I'm looking for some advice.

I own an Ampeg SVT-CL top and SVT-610 HLF cabinet. I also own a Roland Cube 30 (or 20 or something) combo. The Ampeg stays in the same location unless I have a gig since it's heavy and big.
Recently I started playing in a second band. The Ampeg is way too heavy and inconvenient to get it to the other location every two days. The Roland Cube doesn't have enough power to be heard over two heavy guitar-amps and a drum.
So now I'm looking for a decent combo-amp to use in the second band.
I don't want to spend too much money since I already have the cube for home-use and the Ampeg for gigs.
A friend of mine owns a Mark Bass CMD121P and I like it. Only..., €800 is a lot. So maybe there are better amps for a better price?

Any ideas that can help me out?
The advice of you guys ('n girls) would be much apreciated.

I live in Belgium.
To give some prices so you might compare with US:
Ampeg BA210 v2 = €599
Orange CR100BXT Crush Pix = €475
Roland CB-120XL Cube = €579
Fender Rumble 200V3 =€485

No idea if these are good or not, but it's just to give you an idea for the overall price range at some different manufacturer's prices around here.

You get good prices on Orange. but for the 10 extra Euros I would go with the Rumble V3 with the additional 100 watts. The Rumble would give wider tonal choices as well. I would guess US brands would be on the high end (the Fender price is not great by US market), is TCE or EBS available?

It's hard to put a real maximum on it, but I was thinking that I'd look for something around €500. If there's a sublime combo for a bit more, I'll go the extra mile, but only if it's really worth it :-)

TCE is available. The BG250-210 is at €499
The EBS Gorm G40 is at €1499 the classic session 120 around €530

Another option could be to sell the Ampeg top and buy a more expensive combo and connect it to the Ampeg HLF-cabinet.

I've been looking in to the TC-E-gear and they seem to have some nice stuff.
But it made me realise that I don't know much about combo's...
As for example: Would I be better off with a 1x15, a 2x10? Or would a 1x12 like the Mark Bass be good enough?

@B-string I've listened to some Fender Rumble vids and I kind of have the idea that it sounds a bit muddier, you haven't got as much definition as on some other combo's. Even on the bright settings. Or is that just an idea?

An additional 111 for a 210 rather than a 115. Any differences are miniscule. For all practical purposes, they're identical. But it's your money :laugh:.

@iualum So according to you, the sound is about the same for a 210 or a 115 combo? I usually play rock, but I like to play a bit more funk in the other band.

I watched the topics and read up on some reviews. I like Ampeg (hence the top/cabinet I use for bigger gigs), but it seems their combo's (or at least this one) seem to disappoint users with their volume.
I've never seen Trace Elliot's on stage or anything. Never tried them before... Are they any good?

I think the TCE-BG250 has some nice and handy features. But the reviews aren't entirely convincing. Anyone that has one?
The Toneprint effect is pretty cool and fun I guess, but using them would mean I need to get the same effects for my main rig aswell, so I'd only use them for the fun of it.

I keep getting amazing reviews for the Markbass cmd-units. Too bad they cost so much.

If price wouldn't be a thing...
What would you guys advice? What's the best 1x15 or 2x10 I could get for my money?
And would it be the same if you go for price/quality?

I'll drop by a big store (music-store in Germany) in the near future to test some stuff out, so who knows...

IMO, I find Peavey to sound a bit muddy, although I don't have much experience with them.
Trace Elliot is very good, especially their 90's stuff, IMO.
However, I personally prefer the Ampeg sound.
1x15 or 2x10 isn't really the issue.
Best is to compare each combo/cab individually.
For big stores, you might also want to visit Bax-shop in Goes or Antwerp, or Keymusic.
(in Eindhoven they have everything from Ampeg...drool)
