Light bass, thin neck?

Another vote for a Schecter stiletto bass. My extreme-4 has a very similar neck feel to the jazz neck that's on my P (different heel transition). Pretty lightweight as far as basses go. Could be lighter, but it's certainly better than the average music man bass.

If you want the ultimate in lightweight basses, do a parts build with a Paulownia body and a Jazz bass spec. neck. Just make sure to use lightweight tuners and a good strap to avoid extreme neck dive. My parts P weighs about 6 pounds. I don't feel any pain after two hours standing up with it at jazz band rehearsal.

Although no one has mentioned them, believe it or not, Dean makes some fine basses that fit your bill. I bought a couple last year on Amazon deals to flip. They were surprisingly well-built, had the thinnest necks I`d ever seen, and superb finishes with veneer tops. One had Barts, the other EMGs I think. For the prices I got `em at (sub $200) they were a massive steal !
