Light inside 410

So, today near the end of practice, my guitard decided he was going to play bass. Long story short, he pushed the "bright" switch on my Hartke LH1000, and turned my treble up a bit, and I was sitting across the room, and the inside of my cab lit up, I could see the light around the speakers. There was no smoke, or anything, and I didn't check to see if it worked afterwards, I just screamed at him to shut it off.

I don't know if this is a warning light, or if something blew up. Any ideas?

Next time, tell him to go towards the light.

That would be a tweeter protection circuit. It actually is a light bulb, which will reduce excessive current going through the tweeter.

If I am correct (I don't own one) that is the light inside your cab going on. It is in the X-over to prevent your highs from frying in the case of too much power getting directed to the horn. It sucks up the extra power.

Someone else should chime in here with the correct answer, and I hope it matches mine!

Sort of. More like 'the car will be fine as long as you don't drive it into trees'.

I'm not that experienced with them, but then I usually turn tweeters down or off. I don't imagine the odd hit here & there is bad. But frequent strong hits would have me correct the cause.

If the guitarist really likes to do it, simply wire your head to his cab & let him go nuts. I figure that will quench that desire of his real fast.

That lamp is an overload protector. It'll help keep you from frying your tweet.

I see that light with monitors running synths ALL the time.

i started a thread on this a while ago. its a fuse protecting the horn or crossover, but its simply a car lamp in the cab. just back of treble and youll be fine. tis a cool effect though
