Double Bass Light weight bass bag with back pack straps

Messina seems to be the way to go. Soundwear bags also look pretty good and sturdy, but $1,300 isn't exactly ideal.

I love Messina covers, but they don't usually come with backpack straps, just a shoulder strap. He might be willing to make them as a custom order, though.

Presumably the OP knows this but in case not - backpack straps lift the bass high enough that you have to be very careful when, e.g., going through doors. If the bass is low enough to clear doors, you'll be kicking it as you walk. As such, the backpack straps are great for walking long distances outdoors, but not really for anything else.

I had backpack straps on a case for a bass I rented on Copenhagen and I used the straps on the way from the luthier's shop to the train, and again from the train to my apartment and then for the reverse journey at the end of the year, but never in between.

Soundwear is an excellent compromise between weight and protection.
If your main concern is weight, the cheaper models should suffice.

Soundwear bags are expensive but they are robust and function extremely well.

There is no limit to the variety of cheap, light bags, but...

Not even that! A customer of mine, with a brand new Shen bass, made the mistake of strapping it to his back. One of the straps gave way, resulting in a brand new bass with a crack in the neck. The Shen distributor, ever so gracefully, honoured the warranty on the (Shen) bag and paid me to fix the bass.

Don't let this happen to you!

That's fair, but technically that could happen with just about any point of failure on a bag, although a shoulder strap would tend to imply the bass being even higher up. I just felt like even in my short time with a bag like that, because you can't see how tall the bass is behind you it's really easy to Storrow it.

I have one of these.

^So do I.

The protection is pretty light and the straps set the bass pretty high so I only use it outdoors at bluegrass festivals and farmers markets where I’m carrying the bass long distances but not going through (m)any doors and stairways. Been good so far (a year and a half).

The 'double bass' bag in the video is for two electric basses. I don't know of any bags for a double bass.
We would have to call that a "Quadruple Bass Bag"!!!!
I am just funnin' with you, as you have inadvertently wandered into the Double Bass side of TalkBass.
Thanks for the diversion...we don't have a lot of FUN over here on the DB side, (and you can see why!)

Ah that's what's going on. Bump fist. The nearest I've come to playing DB is a cello. I was chatting the other week with a DB player at his gig. He said he'd upset some in DB TB, by talking about lining his DB with fibreglass.
