Lighter Rotosounds

To Me, Rotosound Swing SS 40/100 sound more articulate and cut through better than 45/105. I don't feel there's any loss in low end either. Any opinions.

I go even lighter yet on my Jazz, I use the 66LC (.40-.95).

I'm not hurting for lows in any way, and I get that great snarl when I want it.

I have the .095 66LCs as well, on my P-bass. They do have a pretty nice tone.

I have rotosound 125 95 75 60 40. To me they sound much better than 130 105 ...... They sound more articulate and growly especially when i play fast riffs with a pick.

Exactly. The sound is more articulate. I can really get that Jaco bridge pu sound out my of bass. Plus I have a set of Nordstrand nj4se pus help. Maybe it the lighter string core that makes it more flexible. Any way, I like playing the standard gauge, but the hybrid gauge I use has great all around sound.

Does anyone use even lighter Rotos like 30-90?

Between amp settings, playing technique, tone control on the bass(if any)....I've no problems with 40-60-80-100's here.
IMO they also seem to provide a certain "bounce" that makes playing easier for some reason and more fun. Standardized my basses with them.

My 4s are strung differently; I have the RS77 short scale set on my Mustang, a few have the RS77LE set, and two different ones use the bottom four of the RS88 5er (so 75 -100 - 115 - 135). I've never had issues with sound.

RB40's here, on my Schecter. They're certainly more articulate than standard gauge. From a while now I've been using all 40-100, both DR and Rotosound. I like Roto's a bit more for my kind of sound, growly, yet not light, if ya catch my drift.

I loved the feel of 30-90 Roto Funkmasters (P bass), but the sound was too thin for my tastes. Switched to 40-100 Sunbeams and love 'em.

I was partial to 45-100's in both DR and D'Addario.
Now I like 45-105's on my P-Basses and 45-100's on my Jazz.
I tryed 40-95's before and they are just too light for me. I kill them very quickly.
