I'm trying to shave some weight from a favorite bass...I have the tuners covered...and this particular instrument sports a fairly hefty gold Gotoh monstrosity ~85 mm (wide) X 55 mm with a string spacing center-to-center of ~17.5 mm / .6875" I really don't feel like dropping $200 on a Hipshot in this case. Screw pattern be durned as nothing will come close to matching the existing footprint...I don't mind plugging and re-drilling. I'm thinking in terms of bent plate or aluminum.

If you can think of any options, please let me know. Thanks for the consideration!

Oh, yeah but comes in at $200. While not your favorite, I may have located two of the Gotoh GT-404-B's (column saddles) in France of all places. These were stock on the Fernandes APB 5's which is the bass in question. I've also used the Wilkinsons.

Still not cheap, but I see it on the Hipshot site at $138.15

I'm sure she does.

Don't you need some practice prepping metals for plating?

I know Hipshot could use a refresher on occasion. She conquers the world with embossing powder and well-aimed heat gun...and says "hi".

Would one of these work?

Pricey once you do the gold upgrade and add shipping. I found an original "column" style Gotoh in France and Jazz Ad is assisting with the purchase & shipment. I'm pretty sure this is the stock bridge for the Japanese-market Fernandes basses or used globally depending on revision & DOM.
