How about medium sized cases with a big, bad, hand tuck/All terrain cart?

And no matter what you do, don't skimp on casters. Get the best wheels you can afford. Rolling around Three wheeled cases of any size sucks big time!

Don't skimp on the hand truck either.

Inflatable tires can be a pain (especially if you don't keep them inflated) but those skinny hard-rubber wheels on the cheaper models are for the birds. Especially if you roll in northern climates where you have to deal with snow and ice in the winter. And go wide... wide rack and wheelbase = more stability which is kind of important when you're dealing with hundreds of pounds of spendy gear.

If it gets the female singer to actually pick something up and carry it (besides her tamborine), I go with more and lighter loads.

I went ahead and bought one of those big rock and roller r12 carts with the all-terrain wheels. Wish I'd bought it years ago. It is very handy.
