Lightweight bass cab?

Recommendations? Need a bass cabinet I can lift, for rehearsals. It could be mic’ed or go direct. For use with Mesa Boogie Subway series 800w amp. Or, TCElectronics B500.

Has anyone liked the Gallien Kruger Neo115lll?

Stick with Mesa. The Subway 115 is pretty light and sounds ridiculously good.

When you post something about lightweight cabinets on TalkBass, it'll be less than 6 replies until someone mentions barefaced cabs. I have two. They are incredibly loud for their size - a fact which is only ridiculed by their weight.

I don't know what is more impressive: To play them first and lift them afterwards or to lift them first and play them afterwards.

plus one for sticking with Mesa. I got a 215 subway a while back that's lighter than most 210s used to be 10-15 years ago. The 115 subway is only 38 pounds. If you need more stage volume than the 115 can put out, it's probably time to fire the drummer.

Mesa or Revsound. My Revsound 212 is 38 pounds.

Haha, loud drummers are my passion . I can deal with stage volume issues. I just need “my” sound at rehearsals. Thanks for your insights!!

The old guitar player in my band had never heard of Barefaced and asked me about them after the first gig I played with them. He said he loved how they sounded so I suggested he try picking one up. He looked like he was trying to start a lawn mower and yanked it up off the ground, shocked by how light it was (29 pounds!).



I love my Big Baby 2's and can highly recommend them. If you want to get a more mainstream brand, the Mesa Subway series should have something to suit everyone and their various cabients are designed to sound great together, even if mixing the drivers.

maybe check out Phil Jones C4. I have the C2 which is 2 less speakers, I believe the C4 is around 30lbs.

With a Mesa head, cant go wrong with a Mesa 115. I know a while back they were hard to get - if they're not available, I would recommend RevSound also. Their 115 is 25# and is a few hundred less than the Mesa. RS115 | RevSound

Boom Bass Cabs 212, sub 38 pounds. Takes all my Subway can give it. And it’s smaller than a typical 212.

Fender rumble cabs are light and nice.

But, subways where it's at.

Light is a relative term. It all depends how light you want to get and how much you're willing to spend to get there. The lightest current options are from Barefaced and GR Bass, but they don't come cheap. The next tier is exemplified mainly by Mesa and Bergantino.
