Lightweight Combos

I tried many, and the little MarkBass CMD121P 12" Combo is the hands-down winner in the small, lightweight combo market. Blows away amps that are much larger, is a 14" cube and weights only 32 lbs.

I can play nearly any indoor gig with mine, and when I need to add the add-on cab, it is 500W of thunder. You have to try it to believe it, and they are turning up on the used market now if you act quickly on them.

I've tried several (TCE, PJ, PF500) and went with the MarkBass CMD102P (2x10 combo) and 2x10 extension (102HF).
The combo weighs ~45 pounds and is easy to transport. I've used the extension cab indoors, but I'm not really sure I've really needed it.
The combo itself is plenty loud, has the usual array of EQ capabilities plus VLE & VPF filter controls. An amazing amp, but it's not cheap to pick one up new.
I found mine used in perfect condition for $500, so I jumped on it.
Honestly, I really like every lightweight combo unit I've tried.
This was a big step up from my Peavey Pro500 / 1x15 & 2x10 rig which weighed, well...a lot.

Fender's new rumble might be a contender. Saw one at the music shop today. I lifted one up today and it was light (36lbs) with dual 10". 250w or 500w with an external cab. Had a nice vintage look to it to, nice silver face, not that 90's black grill.

Might be worth trying one out to see if it fits the bill.

I am also looking for a nice little combo for my Sunday worship sets. I do like the Bassman 300 into my 410 Fender neo cab, but I have to really watch the volume and the packing back and forth it getting a little old. We'll see, I do love the tone though. :)

Hi ColinB, thanks for that. I've actually already seen it and while it is helpful to an extend there's no substitute for hands on experience. I was therefore wondering if anyone here had been through the same process and tried them both out.

I own an older GK MB210 and it continues to amaze me with its output. I played a Markbass CMD 121p at GC and was blown away at its volume / size capacity, but enjoyed the GK sound a bit better. Can't wait to hear what you end up with!
