Double Bass Lightweight Hard Cases

Hey, I've been looking into traveling more with my upright and I need a better plan. In my research I have found lightweight hard cases on a couple of different ebay posts and I traced them back to specific web site. They are made out of ballistics thread to hold up. They seem to be based on a really big hard cello case? I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with these.

I have a case that "looks" very similar the those. Mine came from Howard Core (through my local dealer) and is a perfectly tight fit for the bass I had previously bought from them. Total price at my local retailer was $525.00 including freight and taxes.
I love the case. It is lightweight and I can haul the bass in the bed of my pickup instead of up in the cab with me. (Now that's a tight fit.) Check out the Core website. They sell cases in different sizes http://www.howardcore.com/cgi-bin/s...&itemTemplate=Templates/casex.htm&key=CC4200B
If you get one, always be sure to unzip it all the way around when opening it up. It could be a real pain repairing or replacing a ripped out zipper.

I am sure my case could stand up to a lot of bumps, knocks and the like. If handled with just a small amount of care, I think it will do well packed with other equipment in a car, van, bus - or even an airplane. Its the airline gorillas that I'd have a hard time trusting to provide that "small amount of care". If dropped from high on a conveyor or baggage buggy, or rammed by a fork lift or such, the case (and bass) probably wouldn't make it. I don't think I'd trust my bass to the airlines. I'd have no problem, however, with band roadies and a bus or truck.

there was a thread about flying with these cases some time ago, where someone posted about his positive experiences.
if you use the search-function it must be easy to find
