Hey all, Excuse the lack of posts, i just lurk here mostly, and well.. A friend once told me "Think about what you're gonna say, think if they wanna hear it, then decide whether or not to say it" Well.. Explains the post count, ha Anyhow, To the point, I recently Purchased a White Epiphone t-bird. I bought it from a Pawn shop knowing very well that white was a limited edition colour. Its virtually brand new, still has clear stickers on the tuner knobs. I'd give it a 10 for condition, So.. Badass. Anyway, I read at a few places that the white ones were made in '05. My serial number indicated '07. The back of the neck has the custom shop limited edition and all, But the serial code caught my attention.. a Bass that was discontinued in 05 being made in 07 doesnt make sense..? Either or, apparently it was the 65th one made, too. Jackson
Not sure. Here's the Number. U07060065 Fun fact, I have a blank plated BC Rich Virgin VB4 bass, said to be the prototype/first of its model ever made. According to the Music Farm a while back now. How authentic the statement is though is questionable.
I've seen anytime Epi uses a special color it gets the Custom Shop Limited logo, even if it is otherwise a standard model. I've also seen Guitar Center and Musician's Friend pop up with special color runs, from more than just Epiphone, so if they requested a run of white ones it could've been made at any time but would've gotten the CS Limited stamp.
Ahh, Makes sense. So the Bass isn't necessarily a limited edition model from 05, but a requested run from said vendor? or something or rather.
It seems entirely possible given how the above things I mentioned are known to occur. It was quite often a few years back, when I was shopping Epi guitars, that there would be colors available at Guitar Center that were not, nor had been recently, listed by Epiphone in catalog on on their website.
Good to know. But technically.. Any one off is always classified as a limited edition anyways.. right? The bass i have resembles all aspects of the 05 model.. Just not the year.
As far as I know Epiphone tags anything that is not a stock standard model with that CS Ltd tag. Cold be special color sold by the thousands through a specific retailer, could be a truly limited edition of a small number of units.
