Lindy Fralin 5-string Jazz Pups…

My Lindy Fralin rewind story...

The original pickups in my '72 Jazz failed (according to Lindy, that's not uncommon in pickups from that era). He rewound them, supposedly to original specs... but I don't remember the original pickups ever sounding as good as they do after the rewind.

Based on my experience, I think you'd be happy with the results. I hope it works out.

Now….it seems not all is lost….:D

I spoke with Mr Fralin after the first call when we thought we we out of luck. We discussed possibly rewinding the Nords I have in the bass now. He's very positive about the idea and that I would be very happy with the results.

I have the original Duncan humbucking pups that came in the bass, so I could reinstall them and send off the Nords to Fralin. I gotta send him some pics of the Nords to make sure it's doable.

So as they say in ham radio land…

Stay tuned….:D

I've also had a vintage pickup rewound by Fralin. I wouldn't go as far as saying that it sounded better than before, but I would say that it sounded just the same as before it broke, and I appreciated that attention to detail very much! He did give me the option of under or over winding it also, but I opted to keep it the same. Hope that that happy customer report is helpful!
