line 6 bass floor pod HELP!!!

hey guys so here's the dealeeo. i am going to school for music next year and i have a 115 combo amp as well as an 810 fridge. i love the sound i have with just my bass and head and usually go by the motto if it aint broke dont fix it. however, i need something that will give me the ability to create tones, and cycle through them bassed on the type of song for example when im playing a show or jamming with friends and we jam a jazz tune then got to something like muse, i am going to need to change my tone and fast!! my concern is that with a modeling effects processor, will it destroy all the natural and beautiful sounds i get out of my warwick bass? or will this be a good investment for music university??:hmm:

the bass pod does add color to the tone of your gear, and if you use it its best to turn off the speaker module (no cab) if you use your fridge. HOWEVER you can use the speaker module craftily to chance the tone of say a small speaker (say a 2x10) with the benefit of your 8x10.

its all down to playing around, but if you bypass your pre amp in your head (either plugging pod into effects loop return or pow amp in) you can then switch preamps and keep the fridge pumping out tones say as if you had a Marshall then a fender or even an Aguilar all through your 8x10.

but the true use for the pod is in the studio, you can dial up your 8x10 rig in the little pedal/multi unit and just take it and your bass without needing the amp at all.

thanks for the tip. can anyone tell me how it works as far as keeping the original sound of your bass tho? i love the tone i get with my warwick and i dont want to spent 300 bucks on something that will just get rid of it. any body know how it responds with the natural sound of your bass?
