Line 6 Helix Stomp Problems

Does anyone have any tips for using the HX Stomp with bass? It seems to not like low frequencies. I have tried my friends Helix floor with the input pad and had the same problems.

Every time I play I get some nasty low end distortion anywhere below the open A String. I have tried lowering the volume but it still seems to be there. I have also tried lowering all the gain on every block as well the amps but it is still there.

I'm looking to get a smooth punchy tone out of the Aguilar and gallon Krueger amps but they are still very distorted.

This is happening with both active and passive basses.

I have both that you mention and they work great for me. Are you building your own patch or using the BAS presets?

Check the in/out global settings. You may have something set incorrectly there.

What are you playing through maybe it’s the speaker/headphones/your listening device here that is distorting. I mostly use headphones but I have to cut a little low bass with the EQ to keep them from distorting with the lowest notes. Over the phones it’s not really enough low end that it drastically changes the tone so maybe just experiment with the EQ dialing out some sub frequencies.

From the manual - you can try setting the input level to Line, or maybe your output is too hot for whatever you're listening through.

Fine for me and I play 5 string with the volume knob on the stomp cranked to max. Try a factory reset?
