Anyone own or have used the Line 6 M13 stomp multi effects unit on a bass? Thinking about getting one but wondering if its only really made for guitar.

Line 6 - M13 ok for bass?

I love my M13. In fact it's the only pedal I use when playing live right now.
The only issue I have is that most of the overdrive/distortion models seem to cut the low end. I'm going to get a 'Blender' pedal to add some dry signal to compensate. (see my recent post: http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f36/w...arvin-bx1500-line-6-m13-1014857/#post14861941)
For a good signal boost without sacrificing your low end, use the 'BOOST COMP' effect.
I recommend getting your hands on the M13. (But I would go to ebay for the expression pedals! $60 new is too much!)

Hey thanks for the response. I most likely wouldn't use the overdrives/distortions on it anyway. Really pretty much everything else it has like comps, delays, phaser, chorus etc. etc. So you think all these other effects aside from the overdrives and distortions work for the bass without any signal loss? I tried the link you provided but it said "invalid thread I'd" 
It works fine on bass. Modulations are solid, delays are great. The octave is great. Pitch effects are pretty solid.
Effects requiring a dynamic range input for some of their control (comps, dirts, filters, etc) will require you to (probably) lower your bass volume going into the unit to get the best response. That and the size are the biggest downfalls to an M13 (outside of the guitar dirt, obviously).

I just pop mine in a small back pack for gigs.
The other big advantage of an M13 is that Line 6 periodically provides free firmware updates. They haven't had one in a while, but the last one added 20+ new effects, and it was free!
It's not prohibitively large, but it's not an MS-60B either

I had an M9 for a while and sold it. The sounds were ok (not my fave) but there were oddities in the controls that made it not terribly useful for me.
I love the m9. The delays and modulations are really cool. And some of the weird synth-y stuff is also really cool.
I Think the distortions and fuzzes are better on the old DM4 unit. So I use those two units togethers. DM4 for dirt and M9 for trippy stuff.

good stuff guys, I'm looking into obtaining one of these myself. I do intend on getting a blender pedal as well to get the most out of the distortions/overdrives!
The line 6 m13 is pretty useful for bass. you might want to purchase a blender pedal to go with that so that you can be able to have a killer bass sound without obliterating lows. someone on youtube did sound samples of the effects of the line m9 on bass. perhaps his clips will help you get an idea on how the line 6 m13 sounds(since both multi-effects processors are very similar). here are the clips.

I have had an M9, an M13 and two seperate M5's. Octaver is great (one of the best), but the filter's, OD's, and comps I could never get to work for me.
I now own a Zoom B3 and MS-60B, and am much happier.
