Line 6 M9 or Dl4 + MM4

Hard one.
The MM4 and DL4 having so many usable presets is very useful, especially if you have the expression pedals for each, that way you could change a delay while simultaneously changing a modulation effect etc.
But the M9 is useful too - and it's gonna be easier to sell if you don't like it.

I'd go individual units myself...... provided you know how to mod the DL4 and MM4 footswitches (quite easy to do) to make them the pedal they should be.

Unless I woefully misunderstood this post, everything you mention the *M4's doing the M9 does and more.

For that price difference, I expect you would regret your choice in the end, if for the footprint alone.

You won't be able to select multiple delays with the DL4, you won't be able to switch the order of your modulation and delay with the 4's. Not to mention all of the verbs, filters, dirts, and the free looper with purchase. If you only were interested in one, I wouldn't push you this way, but since you want two I think you want the M9.

:eyebrow:
I'm sure our OP already knows the M9 is a more versatile unit.

The MM4/DL4 are both guitar stereo pedals - many of the effects need a stereo rig to get the best out of some of the effects.
Just understand the MM4 and DL4 can only do one effect at a time, and that an expression pedal can control differences in every knob on the pedal, before you make you choice.

If you don't have money for an expression pedal, you can also mod it with a pot on the side like this;

The M9 (or M13) is going to be far, far more useful to you, I think. It will be much smaller, have more presets, and it has global tap-tempo, which is fantastic if you want to sync up two time-based effects (say, tremolo and delay).

The M13 is about the same price and size as the MM4/DL4 setup, and gets you even more versitility than the M9, along with an effects loop, which is ridiculously useful. I love my M13. I just wish I would have gone that route sooner.

i started out with a DL4... needless to say, it crapped out on my big time. like lots of farting and noise.
wasn't pretty.

so instead of buying another DL4 or even a looper/delay, i opted for an M9 and haven't regretted it yet! nor will i. it has everything the previous Line 6 modeler pedals do + a nice 28-second looper.

so, the cost: DL4 & MM4 > M9, which USUALLY equals, no brainer... if you're talking new purchase.
