Line 6 pod xt live

The new X3L is really cool for bass. It can do 2 amps at once and I'm finding a lot of uses for blending a bass amp with a guitar amp. Definitely check out the X3L unless you find a Bass POD XTL for a great price.

Both the Bass XT Bean, Bass XT Live, and the new X3 Live units use a power supply that puts out 9v AC (not DC). I've owned all 3 units at one time or another.

Here in the US the X3 live is only $100 US more and you get everything the Bass pod XT live plus the guitar stuff and most importantly the XLR outs. The missing things i've noticed for X3 is that it doesn't have bi-amp mode (never used it on the xt), 4 band semi-parametric instead of six (never used it on the XT), and no dedicated dry signal out (again never used it). With the "Dual tone" feature of the X3 you could easily set up your patches to include a dry signal on one of the outs. The one other thing I didn't like about the X3 is that it's ABS plastic instead of metal like the old unit. I worry about it breaking, but it's a lot lighter than the previous model.

I just got my X3 and haven't played a gig with it yet, so I'm going to reserve final judgement of the unit until then.

I enjoy my XT live. It has many tones.
One problem I run into is that it does not have a very "hot" output so its a fickle pickle to run it directly into an amp.
I have 3 amp settings I use, Like having 3 preamps. I save them under different names for different effects on each song. Also the timed delays are crucial. With pedals you are always moving a knob just a little and messing everything up, with this its programmed.

If you use a lot of effects, I would say this is the way to go. The X3 has the same sounds, just a few more input adn output options as well as guitar mods.
