I had a gig this past weekend where the pa was all Line 6 speakers, mains, subs and monitors...I have never seen or heard of these before and after looking them up, I was surprised to see that they're not at all new (~10 years) and not lower tier price-wise...same range or a little more than comparable-ish QSC models. They're possibly discontinued (?) but still being sold by various resellers.
Anyone have any experience or scoop on these as to why they're apparently so rare. I mean, there are surely speaker brands that I've never seen or heard of, but at the portable/prosumer level and from a known company, I'd just think some time in the past decade I'd have seen them before. Any positive experiences? Are they maybe more popular outside of the US or just not popular at all?
The setup on each side was 2 splayed two or three way mains on top of three 2x12 subs stacked on their sides. Listening to band before us, the vocals were muddy. Other things sounded okay-ish, but there were other things that detracted...e.g., the bass player in that band never stopped messing with the amp (provided backline, so he wasn't familiar I guess) which must have been set to post EQ...yikes!
Anyway, I don't know if it was the sound guy's mixing, running too loud, something the band was doing or the speakers, but what I heard kind of sucked. I listened to one song from the band after us, and it was a little better, but nothing to write home about.
(pic of them was an afterthought)
