I have a g50. Yes, they are that good. I like the AA's over the nine volts most units have. I've never had a problem with mine on a gig. The sound is clear as a bell. Batteries last around eight hours (+). (All the other units I had were four hours IF you were lucky.) I've never had interferance problems or had the unit cut out on me.

I bought a blemished one for $100 off the regular price. Thanks "Joel" who ever you are. (That was the name that scrolled on the LCD display when it arrived.)

I'd highly recommend one. Get the g50 if you can. Its made a little better then the g30 from the reviews I've seen.

to be clear. I bought it at a discounted price from a ebay store with no return option....yeah I know, I know.

But with a 90 day warranty and the fact they said it was "as new" I felt I was OK. It came in a factory sealed box, all items looked fresh from factory when I opened the box. But I guess it was just a good reseal job.

And NO, was kidding about tossing it. Have to check my reciept but I think it'll be 90 days this next week. I registered it and hoped I might find a contact name or better a ph # that I can call Monday to see about sending it back for them to check out.
I mean this system has not worked right at anyh of my gigs. And I've tried changing batts, cords, etc. I've only had about 5 gigs since I got it to try at. But the darn thing always great when I use it around my house, sometimes for a couple hours straight. No breakup, no stopping, nothing. So I feel confident it'll work at my gigs. NOPE, NADA, NEVER.

I was wondering if maybe sitting it on top of my rig is vibrating it to fail. I know prolly shouldn't do that but I'm lost as to what could be causing this. At this point seems only option is to send it in, hopeful I still can and see if it does it for them. I'm already guessing it'll be like those car issues where it just never does it for the mechanic. Well, I'm pretty disappointed so far. Since day one, 2-3ft from my rig it was cutting out very briefly.

I was suggesting the G30 to my guitarist but after he's seen what I've been thru he showed up last nite at gig with a new Shure XLP4 or something like that. On first set his cut out and would not give him a signal, I lent him my spare inst cable. My G30 was working but still dropped as I walked off the stage about 10' to hear band.

After first set, he got his Shure going, we're not sure what made it work. But it worked all nite. My G30 stopped second et, went to red Audio light, during mid-tune. Tried other cables, checked batts, never worked again rest of nite. Guess I'm stuck hoping for warranty repair. I'd even pay for the right repair so as not to loose the $$ I did pay for it. We'll see. Thanks for replies y'all. :bassist:

See, I just don't understand this - you knowingly bought a "refurb", and it never did work right from day one - and nearly 3 months later, you still haven't returned it yet???

1st off, I wouldn't buy a "refurb" ANYTHING with a "no return" policy - that's just crazy...

2nd, if I had to depend on warranty coverage on something that didn't work right from day one, I wouldn't wait 'til it was due to expire before looking into it...

No offense, bud - but I think you pretty much set yourself up for failure here... I hope you get it straightened out, though - I wish you the best of luck...

Lastly - vibration from your rig isn't the problem - you got a lemon right from the get go... My Line6 wireless is on top of a 600 watt Mesa 810 rig every weekend, and believe me - it's thumpin the crap outta the place week in, week out - no troubles in over 4 years of gigging it atleast 75x per year...

I have a g90. Pretty good. Had to replace the cable as it kept cutting out on me in gigs. Bought a custom made cable. Major problems as it kept slipping out my bass input. Sent it back got a different version and it was ok but still find feel snug . Ended up buying a line 6 angled cable that I searched everywhere for and found it in Germany. No problems what so ever now. Hell yeahhhhhh ! ;)

this G30 always has worked fine here at home. As I stated I tried it at home walking away from room to room, out into backyard, etc. Never any breakup or signal fall out in a couple hours of use or so.

Then I only had those 4-5 gigs from the time I bought it to try it out. I kept thinking maybe I was doing something wrong that it wouldn't work at my gigs but fine at home.

I've bought quite a few things from ebay stores with great results; in this case GearTree. But yeah, this is the first time to buy a no return/refurbed item, won't do that again.

I was looking at some used G30's here on TB, they would've come with no warranty at all. And they were pricier than this G30 I bought. So gona try to call/contact someone at Line 6 tomorrow, see if I get any good results from them. Yeah letting the warranty period almost end is not good. I just didn't take time to look into it or think about it till it went bad at those gigs.

As I stated, I don't mind paying some bucks if I have to cause I'm past warranty or they have to sell me a replacment part. I found I do get more use from a wireless where I did not think I would but just use it on occaision.

Oh well, not the end of world just thought someone here might offer something to try if they were experiencing similar issues. Seems not, that's a good thing then for these systems. Just means I might have a faulty part and its not a common complaint with the G30's. Maybe I'll have to just repair/replace the reciever or something. We'll see, I'll live. :p

I'm also a G50 owner and have a problem with the short cable. Could you give me a link to the eBay vendor where you got your custom ones from? It'd be much appreciated!

I have G30, I've been using it for 2 and a half years now. I've given it some fairly heavy use. Here are my findings:

The battery cover on the transmitter is a little stiff and awkward, but this it does improve with use, now it seems fine. It seems flimsy but I'm fairly hamfisted and i've not managed to break it yet (touch wood).

The cable that came with it from bass to bodypack I didn't like because it was straight jack. On the bright side though it is just standard jack connectors so you can make your own length easily or I've found I can use a slightly longer than usual patch cable and it is just long enough to attach the unit to the bottom of the strap. (Obviously depending on the location of your bass' jack socket). If you choose a longer cable you can put it in your back pocket when you're playing.

I love the AA battery thing. I have 8 rechargeable AA batteries that I use in circulation with this unit. One battery change will generally last through a normal week, 2 gigs (3 hours each) and a 3 hour rehearsal with no problem at all. They could last longer but I don't feel the need to push it as I have plenty of backup rechargeable. The few times I have been 'caught short' the low battery warning on the transmitter has always warned me before any cut-outs or sound issues so I've always been able to get to the end of the song.

The sound is absolutely awesome, I can't tell the difference in a blind test between it and a good quality cable. I don't tend to use the 'cable simulation' thing , I think that is a bit silly really - i'd say it is more of a 'cheap cable simulator'. No gain matching or anything like that which is great.

I've never had any live cut-outs with it but then I don't tend to play stadiums! Even if I put the receiver inside my rack case out of line-of-sight - effectively with my amps between me and it the range is still fine, covers the stage and lets me go down to the sounddesk etc.

I've had the occasional interference, only 2 or 3 times in all the time i've had it from WIFI. If it happens you get a sort of BEEP coming through every couple of seconds. I've always been able to fix the problem by changing to another channel and the only times this has happened have been when I've been in a really wifi congested area (campus).

The only other problem I've had with it, its really minor.
I bought the unit in germany so when I use it in the UK I need to use a power socket travel adaptor which works fine (although I've been meaning to get a new UK transformer for ages). I've found with this 2 prong version if you get it in the plug the wrong way around (i.e. live and neutral reversed) then the unit still works but you can get some really nasty buzz from other equipment on the same AC circuit. I thought my unit was screwed once but fixed it by reversing the plug.

Presumably this might come up anywhere that AC plugs can be inserted the wrong way although I guess people that live in areas where that is possible are usually aware. (In the UK there is always a ground prong even if it is just plastic to open the shutters on the sockets).

Overall.

I love this unit, if it was lost, broken or stolen I would get another one without thinking twice about it. I'm not a line 6 fanboy in general, most of their other stuff I don't like, I think their modelling stuff is 'jack of all trades, master of none' but their wireless gear is excellent.

after about 35 min wait on hold with Line 6, they came on the line finally. During this time I was able to brouse thru the site. Found a Line 6 warranty repair center about 12 miles from me, LIne 6 tech agreed good call as they've had very good results with this vendor/repair shop.

He stated as long as I get it to them before warranty period expires, June 23rd, it'll be covered. Tech felt that the constant failing at several different venues could very well be a RF issue and that the unit should be checked out.

Called repair shop, they are abit backed up,2-3 weeks, but that's cool if they can fix it, that'll be fine. I'll let y'all know how it turns out afterwards. Peace.

I actually hear an ever so slight difference for the better using the Line6. I use good cables (Fender Golds), yet I like the sound of the Line6 better. The only weak aspect is the cord......an easy replacement fix :smug:

I also have an X2 by Line 6. I used at a few shows without incident. Most recently attempted to use at a gig and it drained my battery (brand new). I've tried to use it at rehearsal with a new battery, and the same thing happened...drained over the course of 10 minutes. Have you ever experienced this??? Something that I might be doing wrong?

These sound really great. My two guitar players are using the G50 and love it. I had a Sennheiser I was using that I didn't realize was "illegal". Now, I'm torn between getting another Sennheiser or the G50.

Does anyone have an argument one way or the other?

Definitely go G50, you won't regret it. I've A/B'd it with a cable and can't tell the difference. Not to mention all the other pros about it.
