Hi! It’s a bit of a long shot but I remember, many years ago, seeing Google littered with a double preset wiring mod that added a 5th foot switch and fifth LED to the line 6 distortion modeller I went ahead and did this -back in the day- & really liked it but I don’t have the unit anymore However I recently got one; Fell in love with it and want to double the presents again but, for some reason, there seems to be no sign of the LED foot switch/double present mod out there on the net anymore Does anyone, here, have any ideas? Thanks in advance!
Alas No... That was the website that finally made me realise I’d have to ask the question & stop searching for it! (In fact the last two questions at the bottom of that page you sent the link to are from me asking the same questions, above, but still no response) That link you sent shows a separate box with a potentiometer in it the blends between two presets and would rely on a 9V battery to power an LED (which it doesn’t feature anyway) However THANKS for the time you put into this searching please let me know if you discover something new or if you manage to work out a way based on the information on your link that you sent Thanks again
Nope, just how the mod works in practice on other models of pedal -no info on how to make the mod and build it into a DM4 -but thanks anyhoo
I'm seeing a lot of stuff on Google including wiring diagrams. Is this a hijacking of the expression input, adding a new small circuit board or something else?
So I did the dual preset mod and quick access looper switch to my DL4. I remember seeing a few variations on how to do it but I ended up getting a PCB that allowed for dotted 8th notes (wouldn’t apply to your DM4). Got the PCB from here: EDIT2- realized I put the wrong link at first- here’s the PCB: Line 6 DL4 Dotted Eighth/Double Preset Mod Kit Jump to looper I found here if you were wondering: Line 6 DL4 Mods | Looper Switch DL4 Mod | Pedal Haven The jist of the dual preset mod was using a 10k pot OR a 10K resistor(you’d want that) and bridging the expression output. The dual mod came from the fact that you could have 2 variations on 1 preset and morph between the 2 with the expression pedal. You’ll install a stomp switch with a 10k pot in one side so it’s instant toe down. I did a built in expression first with a 10k pot drilled through the side (so I could morph) then when I added the dotted 8th I installed a SPST switch so I could choose my added pot expression or straight A/B. You’d want to do a DPDT switch (edit: a 3DPDT to have an LED) with a 10k resistor so that when it’s engaged it’s toe down and when it’s not it’s toe up. There is a crappy schematic that also shows how to pull 9v from the pedal +resistor to engage an LED so you know if you are A or B. No battery needed. I used the one with Abe Lincoln’s head: ilovefuzz.com • View topic - DL-4 double preset mod? I did this to my DL4 and my friends DL4 along with replacing the stock PCB mounted switches for normal ones. Was a fun weekend project, kind of funny I ended up getting an M9 a month or so later. Need to post it on Reverb or something.
