Line6 POD Studio UX2 and so on. Avoid this brand!!!!

Hello all,

I just wanted to share my (bad and discouraging) experience with the brand Line6.

I bought a POD Studio UX2 with POD Farm.
Using it with my MacOS Catalina was causing the sound to crash while playing or recording.

This issue lies in the river development. It is well known by many manufacturer who all updated their driver according to the new requirements.

Be aware, there are some posts on the web about this very same issue with Windows10 as well.

Lline6 Support takes ages to answer the tickets, and always is blaming Apple.
They suggested me to buy a new MacBook Pro, and downgrade it to older version of macOS.
Which Apple definitely countered, saying my MacBook Pro (late 2012) was not the cause of this issue.

64 bits architecture OS's happen to provide issues to the dev team in Line6.
the last driver 7.6.8 are still not allowing to record, or to play, without having the device crashing.

Line6 is very useless in this matter. and I am not going to have my computerS downgraded just because Line6 workers are lazy as sh...ame.

Definitely avoid them! or else you'll have problems with your devices for more than 6 months every time you update your OS, which is about every year!

I was naive enough to buy one of their product, I am returning it after 3 weeks of waiting for support from Line6.

I've been using the Line6 POD UX2 with a Windows 10 PC since March of '19. Only minor issues have happened and those were resolved by troubleshooting my multi-track software. Occasionally the UX2 won't boot up after shutting down/restarting the PC, but that's easily fixed by unplugging the USB cable and plugging it back in. We've recorded countless guitar, bass and vocal tracks using the UX2. I wish I had this device back in the 00's... it would have saved me a lot of money.

Sounds to me like this is more of an Apple/Mac issue than Line6.

I used a UX2 regularly for the better part of a decade with no issues.

Apple’s decision to phase out 32 bit software badly affected a number of music apps, not just this one. Hardly line6’s fault.

Sorry to hear you had trouble but this was a widely discussed issue when it happened, it’s not like the info isn’t out there.

well with the new macOS Catalina, drivers know need a special process and need to be 64 bit arch dev.
Catalina gave some difficulties to many brands as almost none are developing on beta version. Which I can understand.

the thing is, Steinberg, FocusRite, Roland, Presonus, Audient and many others already have fixed their drivers and softwares.

Line 6 Monkey app is not yet developed for Catalina.
The UX2 driver takes ages to install.
It slows the computer boot and shutdown.

not only am I not the only one having this issue, but also have I contacted Apple.
They helped for about an hour and a half. We have run many tests to conclude the dev of the driver was the issue.
To which Line6 answers: we have no knowledge of such issue.
While on their own forums at least 10 threads (More if I keep searching) exist on this topic And countless people posted on many other forums.

if other manufacturers already have their solution, t cannot mean that it is in Apple’s hands.
They made an OS with new requirements. Now it’s up to devices manufacturers such as Line 6 to ensure the full compatibility and update their drivers, like all did.
