Double Bass Lithium grease and graphite

Hopefully I’ve chosen the right forum and if not, my apologies. I’ve always used pencil lead on my bridge and nut when replacing strings. Recently, I talked to a luthier that used a blend of white lithium grease and graphite powder. I’m preparing to replace a set of synthetic strings with an all unwound gut set. Is there any reason to use this combo as lubrication prior to the installation? Any reason not too?

Yeah, I found it to be a little messy before when he was talking about it. My other bridge still has some black from where it was messy. I went with pencil like I always do and it seems fine so far. You know, after 20 minutes.
